Maxson Staff Meeting - January 2026
Date: 2026 02-February 03

Permit compliance
- 0 violations for January 2026
- Daniel Montgomery: The plant is running fine.
- Carl Stevenson: At the beginning of the month there was a slight spike of BOD, with a max of 37 mg/l. An extra blower was turned on to help with the reduction in the aeration basins. Loading has been reduced. The plant is running pretty optimal. 4 trickling filters in service, 3 main blowers, and 1 reaeration blower.
- There is a regular letter being prepared for the state. If we do well enough, we can stop sending.
Laboratory:
- Consuela Jones
- Lagoon number 5 - Sample location added to LIMS, at some longitude and latitude. We need to ensure we have the q
- Don Hudgins: Mike Brower, identify spots in the lagoon for volatile solids: this is better than nothing. The VAR's are limited, so we need to rely on volatile solids.
- Are there yet five results? No.
- Mike Brower: We have 5 total involatile solids numbers. They are not yet in LIMS. They were given to Carl Stevenson who then gave them to Jeff Old from Black & Veatch. When Tammy Franklin gets to Maxson, this can be put into LIMS.
- Carl Stevenson: Ivory Morris gave samples to Tammy Franklin, and now Jeff Old has those samples. This was a special project, so fields were not added for landing the data in LIMS. It is 503 permit requirements that dictate the purpose of collecting a sample. Did we do four VAR's? Carl will find out how many samples were done, where is the data - that data can be moved to LIMS. Don will help.
Main Power:
- Mike Brower: The third blower started on January 23rd caused our power usage to increase.
- Gary Garrison: A transformer shorted out a pad switch circuit on January 30th.
- Don Hudgins: What can be done to prevent this form happening again?
- Gary Garrison: The contractors were cycling power, to reconnect a large ground wire. They were trying to cycle the ATS switch on the admin building, to test with both transformers. One of them failed and they will replace it (with a new one). The transformers were rebuilt, rather than being brand new (due to reduced lead time).
- A new one instead of a rebuilt one should prevent this from happening again.
- Chris Luss: We needed new transformers. They bought these to upgrade from the old ones. And then one of the new
- Don Hudgins: These rebuilt ones should have been temporary pending the arrival of new ones. What this out of operating budget or CIP budget?
- Chris Luss: This was paid out of the plant budget.
- Don Hudgins: New ones can come out of the CIP budget, for capital improvement.
- Harvey Woodall has added new transformers to the CIP list.

Flow and rainfall:
- Mike Brower

- Average flow: 56.6
- Precipitation: 3.05
- Snowfall.
- No one has yet heard from Robert Dotson regarding an inspection in the line.
MMOR:
- Krishna Bejjanki

- Kim Crawford -> Ron Hood: Raw sewage pump 2 is in the process of being rebuilt right now. 1,3,4 are in the process of being rebuilt. The course bar and fine bar screens are a topic of discussion. A new cable and brake have been ordered. Waiting on Xylem to replace ABF 5. Reaeration blower drama continues - a warranty will be filed by Gary Young.
- Pit hogs. Both 1 and 2 are up and running.
- Raw sewage pump and blower runtime report.
