Maxson Monthly Pretreatment Meeting, 2025 07-July 08

Purpose

Review the behavior and trends of various industries that contribute waste that must be managed by the Maxson Plant

Chris Luss: We expected no violations for June 2025.

TSS is a good mass balance, in terms of influent concentration.

For June, Solae gave us 60 Downed Feed Dryer Notices

On the 30th of June, operators noticed a blue foam in the influent and a kerosene smell. (Henry - Jet fuel smells like kerosene, hopefully it is not jet fuel.)
On the 21st and 22nd of June, operators noticed that something came into the plant and turned everything dark and murky. DO's were noticably impacted
Not industry reported any spills in June.

Last month there was a photo of strange things showing up in the grit. It is a white cube shape, appears purposefully cut up, but otherwise like a grease ball.
Industrial Pretreatment has a sample in their cooler, yet undissected
Could be soybean fibers from protein production, from dyer waste, from Solae.
Other conjectures: Kellogg's (has dryers), or Richardson.

Runyan / Mid-South Septic / Mid-South Industrial development is halted for the time being. There is a draft permit in play, and an inspection is scheduled for next week. They are expected to be online in about 45 days. Their location is 2401 Harbor Avenue.

Their open-cooling system is not yet ready to be implemented, and probably will not be until their water treatment plant it running.
Only refreshed water is currently being added to their closed loop system.
A power plant was purchase overseas (hypothetically mini-nuclear), and it being shipped to that location.
